Description
Antrouklies nature trail is a remote route in the heart of Paphos forest. It is located right before Tsakistra village. The trail begins with a steep ascent and then climbs mountain peaks in a row with sometimes slippery ups and downs. The view is just perfect. Along the route you will notice many Antrouklies trees, hence its name.
The Antrouklies nature trail is short but has steep ascent and descent sections. It is a linear trail with a total distance of 2.65 km in one way, hence 5.3km out and back. The total elevation is 331 meters (including the return), therefore for a ~5km route, it is considered as moderate to difficult. The estimated hike time is around 2-3 hours.

Viewpoints
This steep trail summits a couple of distinct peaks, offering demanding ascents and descents that reward hikers with 360-degree panoramic views. From these vantage points, you can overlook the dense pine and cedar canopies of the Paphos Forest on one side, while the other reveals the village of Tsakistra and the distant waters of Morphou Bay.
Standing on a mountain peak and looking/facing ahead of countless and massive mountains leaves you in awe and reminds you how tiny we are compared to nature’s majestic wonder.

Starting points
The trailhead is located before Tsakistra village following the road from Kykkos to Tsakistra. Next to the trail there is an abandoned tavern. The sign on the spot says “H vrysi” but on google maps says “To paradisenio”.
The trail is linear and ends in a gravel road in the area of Tsakistra. Since the trail end didn’t have much space for parking it is not recommended to start it in the opposite way or have cars on both ends. Therefore only the trail head will be described in the Antrouklies nature trail information table and hikers must do it including the return.
Personal comments
The trail is challenging. The fact that it is 2.65km (one way) and goes up and down to get to the top of mountains a few times in a row, says a lot about its steep sections. On some occasions the steep terrain was also a bit slippery, especially when you go downhill and needs extra attention and careful footstep.
Therefore, for sure the trail is considered moderate to difficult and the elements of the weather may make the trail kind of risky especially for inexperienced hikers.
The trail offers magnificent views of the wild and untouched Paphos forest and the surrounding area. If you are quiet enough you may come across the Cypriot Mouflon!
The trail is totally recommended mostly during winter time. It is so beautiful and totally recommended for moderate to experienced hikers. Due to its remote location I would advise you not to go alone. The route is not very well marked but most of the time the path is visible. If it is your first time on this trail, the GPS route will be handy for sure.
